Company story
Albie Wheeler founded Wheeler Cranes & Services Pty Ltd in June 1999. The company operated from Morpeth, with a single mobile slew crane. Albie’s background as a trade qualified plant mechanic and crane operator provided a sound basis for the company to expand and become one of Newcastle’s largest privately owned and operated crane and truck hire companies, now expanding into the Mid North Coast.
As of January 2025, Wheeler Cranes welcomes two new stakeholders, Glenn Wilbow and Joel Bentley. Both have been integral members of the company for many years and now step into ownership roles to help drive its continued success.
Wheeler Cranes & Services Pty Ltd now operates from 64a Old Maitland Rd. Hexham and now a NEW depot in Port Macquarie and caters for all aspects of crane hire with one of the Hunter & Mid North Coast’s most modern fleets comprising of 3t to 250t slew cranes, 20t to 40t Frannas, step deck and semi-trailers; as well as rigid trucks, all offering 24 hours a day, 7 days a week service.
The wealth of experience within Wheeler Cranes & Services Pty Ltd enable us to provide all facets of rigging and cranage requirements, in addition to technical support, Safety requirements, pre-lift strategies and on-site consultation.
